Jaspey App Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 24, 2026
This policy explains what the Jaspey iPhone and iPad app collects, how we use it and the choices you have. Jaspey is a family app for chores, allowance, goals and accomplishments. Parents set up the household and decide who joins and what they can see. For our website and launch email list, see the website privacy policy.
The short version. We collect what Jaspey needs to run your household and nothing more. The app has no ads, no ad trackers and no third-party analytics. We don’t sell or share your family’s information for advertising. Parents control their kids’ information and can export or delete it at any time.
Information we collect
From adults (parents and invited relatives)
- Account details: your name and email address. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple shares your name and either your email address or a private relay address. If you sign up with email, your password is stored only in encrypted (hashed) form.
- Household details: household name, time zone, your role, what the kids call you (such as “Auntie”), and the permissions parents give each relative.
- Plan details: subscriptions are bought and billed through Apple. We receive the plan, its status and renewal date, linked to your household. We never receive your card or Apple ID payment details.
About children, provided by a parent
- A display name, age (used to pick the kid view), avatar choice, and optionally a username, password or PIN that the parent sets. Kids don’t need an email address and can’t create their own account.
- Chores, goals, points, allowance and reward records, achievements and family feed posts about the child.
Things you create or share in the app
- Chores, goals, rewards, offers, feed posts, comments and reactions.
- Reward contacts: if a parent saves a phone number for sending Apple Cash rewards, we store that number and the contact name. If you pick from Contacts, the app reads only the number you choose; it doesn’t upload your address book.
- Payment handoffs: when an adult chooses to pay a reward with Apple Cash, Jaspey opens Messages and notes that a payment was started. The payment itself happens in Apple Cash, between you and Apple. We never see or move money, and we don’t store bank or card details.
- Birthday pages: a parent can publish a birthday page and share its private link. Anyone with the link can see what the parent chose to show: the child’s display name, headline, message, wish and, if the parent approved it, payment instructions. Guests who give a gift enter a name, optional relationship, the gift and an optional message. Guest details are visible only to the child’s parents; messages appear for the child only after a parent approves them. Birthday pages have no analytics or ads.
Technical information
Our service providers process technical information such as IP addresses, device and app version, and request logs to run, secure and fix the service. If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a crash report (the error, device model, iOS and app version) to Sentry so we can fix it. Crash reports don’t include names, email addresses, household content or screenshots, and aren’t tied to your account. The app doesn’t use advertising identifiers and doesn’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
How we use information
- To run Jaspey for your household: chores, approvals, allowance, goals, rewards, the family feed and birthday pages.
- To show each person only what their role and the parents’ settings allow.
- To unlock your household’s plan and keep it in sync with Apple.
- To keep accounts secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- To answer you when you contact us.
We don’t use your family’s information for advertising, and we don’t sell it.
Who can see your information
- Your household: parents see the household’s information. Kids see their own chores, goals and rewards. Relatives see only what parents allow, for the kids parents choose, and parents can change or remove that access at any time.
- Service providers: Supabase stores the app’s data and runs sign-in, in the United States. Vercel hosts birthday pages. Sentry receives crash reports. Apple provides Sign in with Apple, subscriptions and Apple Cash. Each processes information only to provide its service to us.
- Legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law or reasonably necessary to protect people, our users or the service.
Children’s privacy
Jaspey is used by families with children, so we keep kids’ information to what the app needs. Only a parent can add a child, and the parent decides what is shared with relatives. Kids can’t sign up on their own, give out contact details or make purchases in Jaspey. There are no ads or third-party trackers.
Parents can review and change their child’s information in the app, export the household’s records (Household settings › Your records), remove a child from the household, or delete the household. Parents can also email hello@jaspey.com to review or delete their child’s information, or to ask us to stop collecting it. We may need to confirm you’re the child’s parent first.
Keeping and deleting information
We keep household information while the household exists so the family’s history and balances stay accurate.
- Delete your account: Household settings › Account › Delete my account (relatives: Profile › Account). This removes your profile and sign-in. If you own a household, delete the household first. Money records other members still need, such as a reward you owe a child, stay with the household under “Former member”.
- Delete a household: the owner can delete it in Household settings. This deletes its chores, goals, points, money records, feed, birthday pages and the kids who don’t belong to another household.
Deleted information may remain in our provider’s encrypted backups for a limited period before it is overwritten.
Your choices and rights
You can view and edit most information in the app, export household records, and delete your account at any time. To ask for a copy, a correction or deletion of anything else, email hello@jaspey.com. Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under local law, and we’ll honor them.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and each household’s information is protected by access rules on our servers that check who is asking. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your family’s information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and its effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information we already have, we’ll tell you in the app or by email first.
